What roof rejuvenation costs, with sources.
There is no independent price guide for roof rejuvenation yet. So here is what the brands publish, what a new roof costs by comparison, what moves your quote, and when it is not worth paying for at all.
Low thousands, quoted after an inspection.
For a typical home, expect a quote in the low thousands of dollars. Roof Maxx, the biggest brand, publishes $3,000 to $6,000. House Dressing applicators set their own prices and quote after they have looked at the roof, because no two roofs take the same time or product.
Anyone who gives you a firm price from the driveway is guessing. A real quote comes after someone has checked the shingles, the flashing and the gutters up close.

Rejuvenation vs replacement.
Brand claims are labeled as brand claims. Independent figures are named.
| Roof rejuvenation | Roof replacement | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical price | No independent price guide exists yet. Roof Maxx publishes $3,000 to $6,000 for a typical home. | This Old House: $6,885 to $23,993 for a 2,000 sq ft home. FIXR: about $10,000 on average, most jobs $7,500 to $14,000. |
| How long it lasts | No independent field data. Roof Maxx claims up to 5 years per treatment, and NRCIA notes rejuvenation warranties usually run 5 years. | NRCIA: about 15 to 20 years for 3-tab shingles and 25 to 30 for dimensional. |
| What it fixes | Nothing that is broken. It is maintenance for shingles that are drying out. | Everything. It is a new roof. |
| Warranty | The House Dressing treatment alone carries none. The 10-Year Roof Care Program, offered through participating applicators, includes a 10-year limited warranty. | Shingle manufacturer warranty plus the contractor workmanship warranty. |
| Time on site | One visit, usually 2 to 4 hours on the roof. | Tear-off, dumpster and install. Ask your roofer for the schedule. |
What moves the price.
Roof size
More square feet means more product and more time on the roof. It is the biggest single factor.
Pitch and height
A steep or tall roof needs more fall protection and goes slower than a low, walkable one.
Access
Tight lots, landscaping, solar panels and skylights all add masking and setup time.
Prep work
Debris, moss and dirty gutters get cleared before anything is sprayed.
Repairs found first
Lifted, cracked or missing shingles and failed flashing get fixed before treatment, and that is priced separately.
Local labor
The same roof costs more to treat in a high-wage city than in a small town.
One-time treatment or a plan
A single treatment is one price. A maintenance program with inspections and a later second application is a different product with its own price.
Do the math honestly.
Rejuvenation only saves money on a roof that is a real candidate: intact shingles, a sound deck, no leaks, and a roof that is drying out rather than failing. On a roof that needs replacing soon, a treatment is money spent twice. NRCIA, a roof inspection body, warns that putting off a needed replacement often costs more in the long run.
No field study has established how many years of service life the treatment adds to any individual roof, and no such claim is made here. So do not let anyone sell it to you as a guaranteed number of years. Buy it as maintenance, the way you would service a furnace, and only on a roof that passes inspection.

Red flags in a quote.
- A price given from the driveway, before anyone has looked at the roof up close.
- A promise of a guaranteed number of extra years.
- Claims that a treatment resets your roof age or lowers your insurance.
- A warranty sold as a separate line item, or one with no written terms.
- Pressure to sign today.
A good quote names the roof size, the product and its data sheet, any repairs needed first, and what is and is not covered, in writing. Our checklist: what a roof rejuvenation quote should say before you sign.
What people ask about the price.
How much does roof rejuvenation cost?
For a typical home, expect a quote in the low thousands of dollars. There is no independent price guide yet, so the most-cited number is the brand one: Roof Maxx publishes $3,000 to $6,000 for a typical home. House Dressing applicators set their own prices and quote after inspecting the roof.
Is roof rejuvenation cheaper than replacing the roof?
Up front, yes. This Old House puts a new asphalt shingle roof at $6,885 to $23,993 for a 2,000 square foot home, and FIXR puts the average near $10,000. A treatment usually costs a fraction of that. But it only saves money on a roof that is a real candidate. On a roof that needs replacing soon, it is money spent twice.
How much does Roof Maxx cost?
Roof Maxx publishes $3,000 to $6,000 for a typical home on its own pricing page. Your dealer quote depends on the roof. We break the brand down in more detail in our Roof Maxx cost article.
Does insurance pay for roof rejuvenation?
Treat it as maintenance you pay for yourself. A treatment does not change the age of the roof or its insurance rating, and we do not claim any insurer discounts or covers it. If your insurer has a view, get it in writing before you book.
Will I have to pay for it again?
Probably, if you want to keep the effect. Roof Maxx says many roofs can be treated up to three times. A repeat treatment is a separate job with its own price, unless it is part of a maintenance plan you bought up front.
Can I save money by doing it myself?
Not with House Dressing, which is sold as a concentrate to trained applicators only. Treated shingles are slippery, the concentrate is an eye hazard, and a wrong mix can damage shingles. The savings are not worth a fall or a damaged roof.
